Selected topics examining popular music from a critical perspective. Examines the meaning and messages of popular music and its impact on present-day culture. Topics may include the examination of the work of specific creators or performers, the recording industry, the impact of specific instruments (e.g. guitar, percussion, electronic media, etc.), or cross-cultural influences. Attendance at relevant musical concerts and lectures may be required.
This course may be repeated for credit.

| Notes: A multimedia survey course exploring the music of Led Zeppelin, including an examination of the band¿s history from their pre-Zeppelin beginnings through their rise to superstardom. Discussions will center on an album-by-album survey of the band¿s music and will include detailed analyses of significant works. In addition to providing students with an in-depth look at one of rock¿s most well- known musical icons, this course will assist students in developing a greater appreciation and understanding of the band¿s music and popular music in general. |
