Notes: This course will be a practical, hands-on guide through the principles, process, and skill requirements of performance and production of classical comedy. The first half of the course will be uniquely focused on a staged production of Pseudolus by Plautus at the University of Calgary¿s baseball field as part of Congress. This class is open to anyone interested in classical comedic performance, as well as over-all theatrical production experience. Particular emphasis of the course will be placed on developing physical and vocal flexibility, ensemble work, and site specific production skills. Production roles will be assigned in-class with consideration of the student¿s individual interests. No prior performance or production experience necessary. |
