The School of Creative and Performing Arts is proud to present the University of Calgary Jazz Orchestra, with special guest, tenor saxophonist Pat Labarbera and with BA dance students as part of the Monday Night Jazz Series. 

The award-winning University of Calgary Jazz Orchestra, directed by Jeremy Brown, is dedicated to performing music from the entire history of jazz music.  The group has won Outstanding Ensemble and Soloist awards at American Jazz Festivals in 2013 and 2014. 

Pat Labarbera is known internationally for his years on tour with the Buddy Rich Big Band, and Elvin Jones' Jazz Machine. He also performed with the big bands of Count Basie, Woody Herman, and Louie Bellson. Labarbera worked with musicians such as Chet Baker, McCoy Tyner and Dizzy Gillespie; performed at major international jazz festivals and jazz clubs; appeared in numerous radio and television shows and film documentaries; and recorded over 100 albums.

Pat Labarbera will be joined by the award-winning University of Calgary Jazz Orchestra. 

Dance students from the School of Creative and Performing Arts will join the University of Calgary Jazz Orchestra on stage to perform jazz choreographies by Michèle Moss in this unique collaboration of music and dance.
