Junior Recital: Tessa Baker, saxophone

March 23, 2015 at 8:15

This event is FREE and open to the public.

Tessa Baker has been studying the saxophone at the University of Calgary for three years under Dr. Jeremy Brown. She has performed in Masterclass for Frederick Hemke for the 2013 North American Saxophone Association conference.  She has also won the Louise McKinney and Jason Lang performance scholarships, which help her continue with her studies. Along with her solo efforts, Tessa has been a member of the University of Calgary Wind Ensemble and Jazz Orchestra for two years, developing a passion for both big-band standards and more modern repertoire.

At the age of five, Tessa began her musical studies with private piano lessons, eventually picking up the saxophone at age ten. Although her primary focus continues to be music, Tessa is also interested in mathematics. She plans on graduating with a minor in the field so she can have careers in both music and accounting.
