Morawski’s Senior Clarinet Recital “The Clarinet Across Borders” will feature works by Burgmuller, Copland, Messiaen, and the Brahms Clarinet Trio Op. 114, a major chamber work that will showcase the talents of pianist Akiko Tominaga and cellist Tom Mirhady.

Thomas “Kaj” Morawski is currently working towards his Bachelor of Music degree in clarinet performance at the School of Creative and Performing Arts at the University of Calgary. Morawski has studied with renowned clarinetists Steve Amsel and Stan Climie, and played under the baton of Gareth Jones, Edmond Agopian, Colin Clarke, Mark Hopkins, Gillian MacKay, and more. He has held the principal clarinet position in the University of Calgary Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra, as well as several other chamber groups. Other noteworthy opportunities include performing with Alberta Winds, the UCalgary Klezmer Band, the Calgary Civic Symphony, the Rocky Mountain Symphony Orchestra, the Denis Wick Canadian Wind Orchestra, and the Calgary Stampede Showband where he has been a part of three back to back world championship titles and has received several individual awards and scholarships. He commissioned and premiered Busy Streets and Quiet Gardens for clarinet and piano by University of Calgary alumni Cory de Baat in May of 2016. Morawski currently teaches lessons and clinics around the city of Calgary and is a woodwind instrument instructor for the Calgary Round-Up Band. He will study music education after graduating in the hopes of sharing his passion for the clarinet with others through performing and teaching.
