Junior Recital: Catherine Brown

Soprano, Catherine Brown, began her post-secondary studies at Red Deer College, where she studied voice with Danica Hoffart, and graduated with a Music Diploma in 2014. Catherine was a recipient of the Sadie Braun/Big Four Music Scholarship and the Harvard Broadcasting Music Excellence Scholarship while at Red Deer College. After graduating, Catherine moved to Calgary to continue her studies and is currently in her third year at the University of Calgary, majoring in performance. Since arriving in Calgary, Catherine has been a chorus member with Calgary Opera and is currently in her second year of performing with them. Before attending post-secondary, Catherine grew up and studied voice in Lloydminster, where she achieved her Grade 9 Royal Conservatory of Music certification. She also received her Grade 6 Royal Conservatory of Music certification in piano, and played clarinet in concert band for eight years. Catherine’s area of interest lies in opera and oratorio singing, but she enjoys exploring all styles of classical music.
