José Carmona

Senior Recital: José Carmona, voice

José Carmona became involved in music at an early age and began his formal studies with classical guitar. He then attended high school in Kansas, USA, where he began his vocal training under the direction of Luis Rodriguez, and later with Andrew Childs. Jose has since studied with Donald Bell and Edith Pritchard, and is currently studying with Julie Harris. In March 2014, Jose performed the role of Pygmalion from The Beautiful Galatea, as part of the University of Calgary's Taking Flight Festival. He has also been a featured soloist with the University of Calgary's Chamber Choir.  Jose has also been a recipient of several awards, including the Don Wright Award in Vocal and Choral Music, the E.G. Coombe Family Bursary in Music, and the Norman J. Kennedy Memorial Scholarship for Choral Performance.
