Grad Recital: Nia Devetzis

Nia Devetzis is a percussionist based in Calgary and completed her Bachelor of Music - with distinction - in percussion performance and education with Rod Squance at the University of Calgary. She is an active performer and teacher all around the city, running band clinics and private lessons, as well as performing in a wide variety of genres. Nia has performed with such groups as the Rubbing Stone Ensemble, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra, and is a core member of Timepoint, Calgary’s newest contemporary music ensemble. She has appeared as a soloist with the Calgary Philharmonic, as a finalist for the RBC Concerto Competition, as well as with Calgary Wind Symphony. Nia is a regular participant of the TorQ Percussion Quartet Music Seminar, where she performed and studied with Russell Hartenburger, Beverly Johnston, Nebosja Zivkovic and the TorQ Quartet. She is currently completing a masters in percussion performance at the University of Calgary.
