The Organ Series at the School of Creative and Performing Arts highlights the magnificent Ronald B. Bond Bach organ in the Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall, with a concert honouring the colourful South German composer Johann Jakob Froberger.

2016 marks the 400th anniversary of the birth of Froberger, who was an epic traveller, making friends in France, North Germany, Austria, England, Italy, and beyond.

Organist Jonathan Oldengarm will take you on a journey through 17th-century Europe, following Froberger's documented musical contacts.

Hailed for his “unalloyed musicality and stylish imagination”, and laureate of the international competitions of Calgary, Dublin, Montreal and the Royal Canadian College of Organists (RCCO), Oldengarm has played all over North America, Asia and Europe. His organ and harpsichord repertoire includes works from the earliest sources of keyboard music to the 21st-century avant-garde. He is also a versatile collaborative artist with a particular love for choral and solo instrumental accompaniment.
